ان
الهجمات المأساوية أمس على المتظاهرين و التي أدت إلى مقتل ستة أشخاص علي الاقل
وجرح مائة أو أكثر ،من الواضح أنها كانت نتيجة لمحاولة المجلس العسكري الإنتقالي
فرض إرادته على المتظاهرين بمحاولته إزالة المتاريس. أدي قرار القوات الأمنية
للتصعيد لإستخدام القوة مباشرة بما في ذلك الإستخدام الغير ضروري للغاز المسيل
للدموع إلى أعمال عنف في وقت لاحق من اليوم و التي لم يستطع المجلس العسكري
الإنتقالي من السيطرة عليها.
كما
تود أن تعرب السفارة عن تعاطفها مع أسر الضحايا، و الذين يطالبون بمحاسبة كاملة
عما حدث لأحبائهم.
لا
ينبغي أن يسمح المجلس العسكري الإنتقالي و قوى إعلان الحرية و التغيير لأحداث أمس
أن تمنعهم من البناء على التقدم الذي أحرز أمس لإتمام المفاوضات بسرعة لتشكيل
حكومة إنتقالية بقيادة مدنية.
نشجع
السودانيون على مواصلة الإعراب عن رغبتهم في إقامة سودان مسالم و ديمقراطي بطريقة
سلمية و ألا يتم إستفزازهم بأفعال من يعارضون التغيير.

The tragic attacks on
protesters yesterday that led to the deaths of at least six Sudanese and
potentially one hundred or more injured were clearly the result of the
Transitional Military Council trying to impose its will on the protesters by
attempting to remove roadblocks. The decision for security forces to escalate
the use of force, including the unnecessary use of tear gas, led directly to
the unacceptable violence later in the day that the TMC was unable to control.
The Embassy wishes to express its
sympathy to the families of the victims who demand a full accounting for what
happened to their loved ones.
The TMC and the Forces for Freedom
and Change should not allow yesterday’s events to prevent them from building on
yesterday's progress to rapidly conclude negotiations to establish a
civilian-led transitional government.
We encourage the people of Sudan to
continue to express their desire for a peaceful and democratic Sudan in a
non-violent manner and to not be provoked by the actions of those who oppose
change.
